主题:理解信息搜索交互中的任务, 目的与障碍

Understanding Tasks, Intentions, and Search Obstacles in Information Search Interactions

主讲人:刘济群

时间:12月18日(星期三)下午14:00

地点:武汉大学信息管理学院313室

报告摘要:

In this talk, Jiqun Liu will present his program of research, which aimed at understanding (a) why users search for information in certain ways in complex search tasks and (b) how information retrieval (IR) systems can leverage the knowledge about users’ information search interactions in providing search supports. After offering an overview of the research program, the talk will focus on a study examining the connections between search task features, users’ intentions and encountered obstacles in local steps of search sessions, and search behaviors, and discuss how the knowledge learned from this study can help us detect the “right moments” for offering adaptive system supports of different types. The talk will conclude with future directions for task and user modeling in the context of human information interaction and the development of next-generation IR and task supporting systems.

主讲人简介:

Jiqun Liu is a Ph.D. candidate in Information Science at the School of Communication and Information, Rutgers University. As an Interdisciplinary Information Retrieval (IR) researcher, Jiqun does research that brings together the fields of IR, Human-Computer Interaction, and Cognitive Science, with a focus on understanding and supporting people’s interactions with information and IR systems in complex, intellectually challenging tasks.
